Micromax recently released teaser videos of Micromax Canvas 4, the next flagship device with the Canvas moniker. Apart from sharing the same digit in the name, Micromax Canvas 4 also shares certain interesting specifications and features with Samsung Galaxy S4, pegging it as direct Indian competition to the Samsung.
The video provided by Micromax shows the back clearly, viewers get just a passing glimpse of the front. The curved back comes with a sleek look and a gloss finish. The camera is positioned right at the edge of the phone with a single flash placed slightly away. The camera placement is definitely interesting as it protrudes slightly out at the top. However, we hope there is a protective bump as the placement renders it open to dust and harm.
On the specs front, Micromax Canvas 4 will come with an eight-core processor just like Samsung Galaxy S4. But we wonder if, like Samsung, Micromax will also divide the processors in two: quad-core for faster, heavier apps and the other four for regular, daily tasks
Micromax Canvas 4 is also rumoured to come with a 13 MP camera. We don’t think they’re quite rumours as Samsung Galaxy S4 comes with a 13 MP cam too. But Samsung Galaxy S4 boasts of a host of camera features like voice-pictures and dual-shot which we are guessing Micromax might skip.
While we’re sure the phone will run Android Jelly Bean 4.2, we can’t say anything about the display and the memory. Our bet is a 5-inch display but Micromax might add or detract a couple of centimetres. Also, Micromax needs to up the RAM to 2 GB and provide a strong internal memory option (or options) to really stand a chance against the Samsung Galaxy S4.
While Samsung Galaxy S4 promises to be your Life Companion (‘Life’ here being till the launch of the next Samsung Galaxy phone, we guess); Micromax Canvas 4 states that “Life Can be Endless.” How endless and for how long, June 28th will prove.
