Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna has said that at least 3000 more people are missing in areas affected by the floods. "After taking into consideration all the missing-person reports lodged in this state and elsewhere, I have been told that the number of those missing is around 3,000," Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said and also added that "We will give the compensation amount to the next of kin of the missing if they give us an affidavit,"
200 more pilgrims were rescued from Badrinath to Joshimath today in 5 choppers. government claims of only 500 remaining there with enough food material, medicines and doctors to take care of them.
Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna said, Total number of people killed may be more than 1,000 and state Assembly Speaker Govind Singh Kunjwal claiming the figure may cross the 10,000 mark.
Medical teams are getting DNA samples of the bodies found at Kedarnath. Cremation of bodies is taking place at various places.
An official estimate said about 550 people are still stranded at different locations across the state.
Free transport is arranged for all people till their respective destinations. Special counters have been opened in Kathgodam, Haldwani,Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh for this.
